Swedish dishcloth: “Chicken Family”

Here they are, the hen, the rooster and the colourful bunch of little chicks, all gathered, a true family portrait!

These chicken are species of one of the Swedish native breed chicken, “Hedemorahöns” reknowned for their stunning range of colours. It’s always a surprise party when the chicks hatch as they appear in all shades, from all-white, yellow, brown, greyish to all-black. With their extra thick coat of feathers they are well equipped for a cold climate. They have a long tradition in the Swedish region Dalarna of being an highly appreciated bridal gift, because they are not only a beautiful sight, they produce a lot of eggs too.
