The Tomte is taking care of the little newborn goat baby overlooked by the majestic daddy goat.
These two goats represents a Swedish native breed goat named “Lappish goat” or “Lappget”. This folklore goat (allmogeget) has developed a taste for the same feed as the reindeer and can live and thrive in the sparse and cold nature up in “Lappland”, the far north of Sweden. Today this breed is endangered, just a couple of hundred Lappish goats existing now in Sweden, and the Swedish government has decided to support the breeders. The plan is to ensure that these fabulous characters will still be around and enrich our lives for generations ahead.
